Journaling is a great way to start the day.. However, despite being a writer, and also a very grateful person, I get daily writers block!
I love the notebooks and the ritual … but, I never know what to write!
Recently I was introduced to Robin Sharma… I know, I know, I am late to the party. He was a guest on a podcast and I was instantly hooked. I have been practising gratitude and manifesting etc for almost 20 years. So I know the basics. However, Robin’s way is to give tangible steps that create easy routines to create consistent gratitude.
As, the secret to living a beautiful life, full of perfect moments and gratitude that feels like a dream come true… requires consistency and a an organised methodical approach.
Being in charge of my mornings, rather than being woken by my daughter/ dog/ husband and then playing catch up from minute one, is so important to my mental health and productivity.
I’ve swapped out coffee for a hot water to manage my mood first thing. I have a calm corner to sit and sip. I light a candle, pick up my book and… nothing! At best it’s a job list for the day.
Robin’s five step journaling guide has changed that and I hope it helps you too…
Robin Sharma’s Five Question Morning Maximizer.
Every morning ask yourself five questions, and write down the answers…
- What am I grateful for (the classic question!) Start small and be specific.
- Where am I winning. We are so focused on lack, where are you nailing it?
- What will I let go of today. Don’t linger on it. Think it, write it down, let it go
- What does my ideal day ahead look like? How does it look, feel, smell etc.
- What needs to be said at the end (of my life)?
Point five is tricky. As someone who recently wrote their mums eulogy, it’s not an easy subject matter, but, just thinking it is profound. Do you want to be known as helpful, happy, loving, successful? What will matter at the end and what really really wont matter?
I hope you find this as useful as I did. To listen to Robin, click here and to find out more about his book here.
