Welcome to the upper east side… or at least dressing like it

Cotswold Fall has our weekend covered… but, what about the rest of the week? We’re calling it. We’re all going to want to visit the upper east side as a lady that lunches… kind of.

Cotswold coded autumn wardrobes – the shops are full of it and so is my Instagram.

I get it, the brands back in Spring spotted the trends, the mood and the moment and created clothes that fit the look but… what they also, almost accidently, in my opinion did was create clothes for a part of our lives that we need and want clothes for.

Walking around the shops recently and scrolling online there were a lot of beautiful things for a life I don’t know anyone lives or, even aims to live.

However, in the same way I want to get outside, feel and breathe the fresh air and see the beautiful autumnal countryside, I also have another area of my life that needs styling…. I want to wear proper clothes and go to nice places.

I, along with so many of my friends are done with leggings. Our feet need out of trainers and we want to meet in real life not online.

We are meeting for lunches, early evening drink. We’re building our businesses and juggling days with meetings, work and school discos!

At the weekends we are Cotswold Fall’ing, but, Monday to Friday, we’re Lunch luxe.

It’s an evolution of quiet luxury. There is wearable glamour, real life luxe and a touch of nostalgia for a time gone by, of ‘society dressing’ and old family money moment.

It’s an occasion and I am here for it… and, I believe the designers and therefore the brands are too.

There’s an elegance, a groomed smartness, but a hint of effortless ‘this is easy for me’ about the look. The make-up is subtle, but definitely there. There is very little lycra and absolutely no leggings. It’s time to dress for the day, not for the yoga class.

Our poster child is Lily Van der Woodson from Gossip Girl and the woman behind the character Kelly Ruthorford. So, if in doubt, ask yourself, what would Kelly wear? And then shop your wardrobe.

And, if you need any updates to get the look check out Me and Em who have recently started to takeover the upper east side women’s wardrobes and we can see exactly why!
