Jelly shoes, mermaid tones and lashings of gold. These quirky pieces will inject some colour and fun into your wardrobe now and in the future as the great thing about beautiful things is they are not just for this summer, they are pieces you will pull out year after year and enjoy.
The jelly shoe
A heeled jelly shoe from Patrick Cox was one of my first special purchases aged 18. Yes they can be a bit sweaty but they are fun, and easy to wear and elevate the simplest outfit. Plus, they are a great way to feel a little bougee round the pool.
Statement necklace
Chloe has my heart and always captures the essence of a care-free whimsical summer. Yes Chloe is having a moment so there is lots of ‘homages’ to the brand, but, the pieces are still timeless.
A statement baseball top
Again, steeped in noughties nostalgia the half sleeve two tone T is a perfect update to an everyday wardrobe. This one makes me feel like Zoe Kravitz… I know, I know, I didn’t say look like! Just the vibe and that’s enough for me.
Silky slips and separates
Linen isn’t for everyone, and neither is silk.. choose your poison! Both can be tricky to wash and iron but, they have an ease and hang in a nonchalant way that adds a touch of whimsy to a summer look. Whether it’s a dress, skirt or lingerie.
Summer bag
The designer summer tote is a statement. But, its also an investment and, for me, a summer bag needs to be filled with suntan cream, get shoved under the seat on an aeroplane and maybe event get used as a goal post on the beach. Therefore, I want something stylish but wearable and that can handle a few scratches… hell, it looks even better with a bit of ‘life’ in it… This old bag, likes an old bag!
